Dear Friends,

For the past few months, we all have been witnessing worldwide devastation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We at Indo-American Friendship Forum Foundation have been monitoring the impact this pandemic is having on our local community. To help, we have been talking to elected officials and community leaders to identify areas of need. With a huge spike in people filing for unemployment insurance, officials estimate there will be a growing need for food assistance. Gov. Jay Inslee has called for more Washington residents and corporations to donate to help food banks across the state meet the growing need during the novel coronavirus outbreak.

After thought and discussion within our board, we have decided to help with the cause of alleviating hunger. To act immediately, we decided use our own funds to support the local charity Northwest Harvest, which is the only non-profit food bank distributor operating statewide in Washington.

We at IAFFF set a goal of contributing USD 10,000 to Northwest Harvest. In our last board meeting, we were able to raise $5000 from our board members. IAFFF board have also decided to reach out to our extended family members and friends to raise an additional $5000 for this cause.

I am appealing to you to support this cause by joining hands with us and donating money to IAFFF so that we can meet our goal of raising $10,000 for Northwest Harvest. Human hunger, especially in the richest nation on earth, is a disgrace. Let us come together to assist Northwest Harvest in their efforts.

To make your donation, you can either make your payment by mailing a check to IAFFF, 29329 3rd Ave SW, Federal Way, WA 98023 or via PayPal to iafffboard@gmail.com. If your employer has a Gift matching program, please take requisite steps to maximize your contribution. I would like to thank you in advance for your generous support and willingness to work with us to serve our local community in a small way.

With warm regards,

Jagdish Sharma
Chair, IAFFF

The mission of Northwest Harvest is in leading the fight for hungry people statewide to have access to nutritious food while respecting their dignity and promoting good health. Our vision is ending hunger in Washington.

Northwest Harvest is the only nonprofit food bank distributor operating statewide in Washington with a network of 375 food banks, meal programs and high-need schools. Through this network, we provide nearly 2 million meals every month.

We are committed to nutrition. Northwest Harvest has decades of experience in promoting healthy eating while reducing hunger. We uphold high standards and ensure our supply of nutritious, in-demand products by purchasing a significant share of our food directly. Two-thirds of the food we provide consists of highly nutritious fruits and vegetables.

With distribution centers in western, eastern, coastal and central Washington, Northwest Harvest reaches rural communities where people in need would otherwise go hungry. We require that our partner food banks provide Northwest Harvest food freely to anyone in need, respecting our clients' dignity while serving their need.

Northwest Harvest is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
